1000 Eyes Project

Have you ever looked someone directly in the eye — and I don’t mean just looking them in the eyes, which results in a focal center somewhere between the pair. I mean, using both your eyes to look directly into one eye of another. There’s depth and meaning there — it’s a whole new way to connect with someone — and can be used to seriously freak them out.

The 1000 eyes project will result in a collection of 500 different people, totaling 1000 eyes (assuming 2 eyes per person). Each photograph will be cropped down to show just the eyes and usually a bit of eyebrow. Although people will still be recognizable to those that they know well, the majority of viewers will only see a collection of different eyes.

After all these photographs have been assembled, I’ll be working closely with music composer Kurt Mehlenbacher to create a video and soundtrack. There’s also a possibility of assembling the eyes into a web project of some sort.
